Her mission in all things is to drive a radical change in our relationship with the natural world, to ignite curiosity in our planet with the hope of generating balance between humanity and nature.
Julia is an experienced executive and team leader with a demonstrated history of working in the aerospace and sustainability industries, with Vrigin Galactic and Business for Social Responsibility (BSR). She is primarily a business and operations professional. Her core priorities have encompassed business strategy, operations, leadership development, regulatory, and the running talented technical teams to deliver safe and successful spaceflight. Julia has large brand and public company experience. Julia values collaboration within and across industry, and strives to rise to any challenge to deliver on mission without sacrificing integrity.
Prior to working with Virgin Galactic and Business for Social Responsibility, Julia co-founded a US non-profit, District Commons, an organization and network of resources dedicated to building community and collaboration to catalyze advancing society. She is also a founder and board member La Choza Del Mundo, a nature and retreat center in Costa Rica, whose mission is to drive a radical change in our relationship with the natural world.
Julia thrives on challenge and is motivated by all things in the arenas of human performance, planetary stewardship, exploration and social change. She is a champion of teams and stands for diversity & inclusion.
Julia is a mother of 2 young boys and keen sailor, mountain climber and marathon runner. She enjoys all kinds of travel and exploration. She has climbed the highest peaks in the Alps and Africa, was a member of an expedition which claimed 12 first ascents in the Teen Shan mountain range in Kyrgyzstan, and has completed marathons at the geographic North Pole and in Antarctica. Julia is currently circumnavigating on a sailboat with her family, where the inspiration for her first book series hit, "The Adventures of Skylark" follows their own family adventures as they circumnavigate on their sailboat SV Skylark, and celebrates the virtues Julia and her family have found to be fundamental for their adventures.
Julia Received a Master’s in Astrophysics and PhD in Planetary Science from the University of Manchester, UK. She has published papers in various areas of space science and is a member of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Women in Aviation.
